Trait

About Trait

We believe your body
already knows.

Trait exists because the supplement industry has been selling guesswork for decades. Your DNA carries precise instructions for what your body needs. We just read them, and blend them into one bottle.

Our story

Started with a simple question.

“What if your supplements were as unique as your DNA?”

Trait didn’t start as a company. It started with Andrew building a formula for himself, tired of multivitamins formulated for a statistical average that describes almost no one, and pill-pack services that just recommend from a fixed menu off a three-minute quiz. So he went to the source that doesn’t guess, his genome, and built a single formula around his own variants.

Then the people around him wanted the same. Friends, family, and Calum, his close friend of twenty years, who wanted it as much for his family as for himself. What began as one person’s workaround kept getting asked for, until it was obvious it should exist for everyone.

The premise is simple. DNA doesn’t fluctuate. It doesn’t depend on what you ate or how you slept. Your genome is the permanent instruction set your body runs on, and buried in it are precise indicators of how you absorb, process, and utilize every nutrient. We partnered with a CLIA-certified genotyping lab and an NSF cGMP-certified manufacturer to build the first end-to-end pipeline that reads your DNA and blends one custom formula from it. No quizzes, no guesswork, no one-size-fits-all.

Andrew Jenkins and Calum Worthy, co-founders of Trait
Andrew and Calum have known each other for two decades and have collaborated across ventures, including the Next Generation Film Awards, a nonprofit Andrew co-founded and Calum joined as a co-founder, which has put more than $400,000 toward emerging filmmakers. Trait is the project they kept circling back to, the one that started in a kitchen and ended up a company.

Founders

The people building this.

Andrew Jenkins

Andrew Jenkins

Co-Founder · President

Austin, TX

Serial founder and operator. Andrew built and sold an on-demand services marketplace (acquired 2020), scaled IAP Career College to more than 500,000 students across six continents, and runs Swivl, an AI-and-human customer-experience platform. He studied Commerce at the University of British Columbia's Sauder School and completed executive education at Wharton. Andrew built the first version of Trait for himself, then couldn't stop giving it away, to friends, to family, to anyone who asked. After years spent optimizing his own health, he became convinced the missing layer wasn't another tracker or another quiz, but the genome itself, the one input that never changes. He leads product, science partnerships, and operations.

Calum Worthy

Calum Worthy

Co-Founder · Director

Los Angeles, CA

Actor and activist seen in Disney Channel's Austin & Ally, Netflix's American Vandal, Hulu's The Act, and Eminem's Bodied, and a longtime advocate who works with Al Gore's Climate Reality Project and the ONE Campaign, reaching millions on climate and global equity. He's also a builder, co-founder of the avatar-technology company 2wai. Calum's role at Trait is to make genomic nutrition something people actually hear about and can actually get. He co-founded the company because the science shouldn't sit behind a clinic door.

A note, for what it’s worth

Andrew’s biomarker testing, through Function Health and InsideTracker, puts his biological age at roughly 9.6 years below his actual age, a gap he’s held steady across years of testing. Biological age is a lab estimate of how old your body reads, not how old you are. He credits the boring stuff, sleep, training, and diet, plus a supplement formula built for exactly one person: him.

Trait doesn’t measure biological age and we’d never promise you a number. We mention it only because it’s the honest reason this company exists. It worked for him first, and he wanted other people to have the same thing.

Where we fit

On bloodwork, wearables, and the companies we admire.

People ask how we relate to companies like Function Health, InsideTracker, and Oura. We’re fans, and we’re complementary, not competitive. They measure where your body is right now, your bloodwork today, last night’s sleep and recovery, signals worth checking again and again as life changes. We read your DNA, the instruction set underneath all of it, which never changes. Test once, optimize for life.

Bloodwork and wearables tell you the weather. Your genome is the climate.

We admire all of them for the same reason: knowledge is power, and the more clearly you can see your own body, the better your decisions. Many of the people most excited about Trait already track their blood and their sleep. The tools answer different questions, and the honest position is that they belong together.

Clinical rigor

Grounded in published science.

Every SNP-to-nutrient mapping in our panel traces to peer-reviewed research, not opinion. Each recommendation clears a published-evidence bar before it ever reaches a formula.

Our standard is simple: every recommendation has to be defensible to a clinician or researcher in the field. That’s the bar we hold ourselves to, and exactly the expertise we bring onto our advisory bench. We don’t list placeholder names, when an advisor appears here, the relationship is real.

Clinician or researcher in the field? We’d love to hear from you at hello@vitalityformulas.co.
